Mountain Road gay-popular beach, behind the former Coast Inn

Laguna Beach contains one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Southern California, most of it easily accessed down side streets or stairwells at various points along South Coast Highway. Although gays and lesbian have long frequented just about any part of the beach in Laguna, including the centrally located Main Beach section opposite the village’s commercial center, two sections have had the strongest gay following, West Street and Mountain Road Beach (pictured here).

The Trulia List of 20 Affordable Gayborhoods

Living in a gayborhood doesn’t have to be expensive. Real estate website Trulia studied Census data and from it created a list of affordable alternatives to pricey areas like San Francisco’s Castro and Southern California’s West Hollywood. With the Census inclusive of a count on same-sex couples by zip code, Trulia could identify the gayborhoods and check the price of housing. The Southern California craze known as Pinkberry has a popular branch at 170 8th Ave. (212-488-2510) in Chelsea. Come find out for yourself what all the fuss is about related to these peculiar frozen dessert said to be devoid of preservatives, additives, excess sugar, and (according to some naysayers) flavor. The icy yogurt-esque treat comes in plain or green tea and can be topped with a variety of treats.
