The Cabaret, Pensacola, Florida

Although by no means strictly a gay bar, the charming and friendly Cabaret is very much a fixture in Pensacola’s GLBT community, drawing a mixed bunch each evening for happy hour, karaoke, videos, comedy shows, live music, and all-around hobnobbing and socializing. The warmly decorated bar is in one of the city’s most historic areas, a short walk northwest of historic Seville Square’s lively restaurants and cafes, and right next to the famed Saenger Theatre.

Mobile Gay Pride

A preview of Mobile Alabama Gay Pride Celebration. Mobile is Alabama’s third-largest city and one of the most charming communities in the Gulf South – it’s also host to one of the country’s largest Mardi Gras celebrations (it’s been going on here even longer than the one in New Orleans). Although this city of about 200,000 has a somewhat conservative reputation, Mobile does have a sizable GLBT community, which convenes for the Mobile Gay Pride Festival in late April 2012.
