In other words, if you’re a preppy and pretty twink, you’re perfectly welcome as long as you don’t arrive with a sneering attitude toward the predominant clientele, which is bigger and buffer guys in theirs mid-30s through mid-50s.

Austin’s gay bathhouse, the Midtowne Spa, is located a 15-minute drive north of downtown, near Highland shopping mall and just north of the Hyde Park neighborhood. A reliable gay bathhouse with a loyal following of regulars, Club Jacksonville is in the city’s historic San Marco neighborhood, across the St. John River from Riverside and downtown, where most of the city’s gay nightspots are located – it’s a short drive, though. This is your standard bathhouse, having served the community since 1974. It’s not especially fancy, but the management did give the place a thorough refurbishment in recent years, and they work hard to keep it clean and pleasant.
