One of the famed Shuttlecocks sculptures, by Swedish artist Claes Oldenburg, on the grounds of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City. Oldenburg, who born in Stockholm in 1929, is well-known for his large-scale sculptures, typically of prosaic household and everyday objects – other famous works include the giant binoculars in Venice, CA, the Clothespin by Philadelphia City Hall, and the Typewriter Eraser outside the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.
