Occupying a square block (it used to be a parking lot) in the otherwise bustling Old Town Chinatown neighborhood, the Lan Su Chinese Garden (formerly known as the Portland Classical Chinese Garden) is one of those unlikely urban oases that keeps the city green. It’s easy to accidentally miss this treasured attraction a block from several gay bars (Darcelle XV, CC Slaughter’s, etc.), but the ornate walls and buildings call attention to charms within. Chinese workers built this entire garden.
