Following my most recent visit to San Diego at the end of last year, I’ve created a new San Diego Gay Bar Guide – it’s a survey of about 20 popular hangouts throughout Southern California’s second-largest city, plus the notoriously wild Club Fusion/Club Extasis, just a few hundred feet over the U.S./Mexico border in Tijuana (I included some tips on how to easily and affordably get here from downtown). San Diego has a relatively stable gay clubbing scene – many of the top spots here have been going strong for 15 or 20 years, and the majority of the city’s GLBT nightspots are in the lively Hillcrest neighborhood, with several others in North Park, just to the east.
